Blogging. Link Building. Directory Listing – There are many traditional SEO strategies that internet marketing companies focus on to help with search engine rankings. However, there is another tactic that is often overlooked in SEO campaigns. Let’s talk video.
Video and YouTube
For one, videos are ranking higher in search engines a lot more than they used to. How many times have you searched for (insert random topic here) and at the top of your SERP, there’s a link to a video on YouTube? This brings me to another point: Google Owns YouTube– and what’s the search engine that every SEO practicing person is trying to please? Google.
Video and Social Media
Also, think about how viral videos are on the various social media channels. These days, social media is everywhere. If you’re getting shared on these channels, the search engines pick up on your quality content being engaged with and assume therefore that your content is high quality and is worth recommending to others. Social sharing also creates natural inbound links to your website which, again, is another indicator for the search engines that you have quality content on your website.
Video and Engagement
Speaking of quality content indicators, a good video also helps with time spent on page, which Google Analytics loves to see. Being engaged on a page can lead to more time spent on an entire site, which means good for you and good for your rankings!
