Always wanting to learn and hone our web/digital marketing skills, TheeTeam is constantly looking for ways to improve and grow. So when Analytics Academy opened the Google Tag Manager Fundamentals course, our team couldn’t wait to get started!
Google Tag Manager is one of the most powerful tag management systems. It allows marketing and development professionals to easily add and update website tags with just a few clicks.
What are website tags? Website tags are tiny pieces of code that allow you to measure clicks, website traffic, user behavior, conversions and more – ultimately helping you improve your website for optimum success. Tags can be applied to the site individually; however they can cause site problems if applied incorrectly or inaccurately report data.
By using Google Tag Manager, you can effectively measure and report on a variety of internet marketing tactics, ensuring that your website is constantly performing exactly as it should, or better.
Wanting to test our Tag Manager skills, a few of our web developers and SEO coordinators decided to take the Fundamentals course.
The Google Tag Manager Fundamentals Course
The Google Tag Manager Fundamentals course is the 5th course offered by Analytics Academy, Google’s free online resource designed to help businesses and marketers improve their online performance.
Organized into 4 Units, the course consisted of videos and simulations. Throughout we learned:
- The core concepts and principles of Google Tag Manager
- How to create and manage website tags, including how they get triggered
- Why they enhance Google Analytics and how to implement
- How to use the Data Layer to get more valuable data
- How to set up additional website tags, like Adwords Conversion Tracking and Dynamic Remarketing for even more website data
After every Unit, we had to take a multiple choice quiz to test our knowledge on the discussed topic. And at the very end, those that received an 80% or better on all assessments received a snazzy, limited edition certificate!
Congratulations Patrick, James, Katie, Lisa, Andrew, Rocky and Rob! Way to go!
